FAOPS 2024 Seoul Participation Report

Yusuke Noguchi

Pediatrics and Developmental Biology, Institute of Tokyo

I participated in FAOPS 2024 congress held in Seoul on 2024.9.4-6.
I am very grateful for the support from the Japan Society of Perinatology and Neonatal Medicine in participating in the conference. It was a very valuable experience for me.

Record of Actions
9/4: Attended sessions
9/5: Made a presentation (Session: Oral Neo1) Attended sessions, Gala party and after-party
9/6: Attended sessions

About my presentation
Title of my presentation is “Fetal programming due to fetal growth restriction has period-specificity”. I researched about the period-specificity of programming due to FGR using umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells obtained from patients.
As prepared, I was able to finish my presentation within the stipulated 7 minutes. The two chairpersons asked me questions, and I could answer them.

About Listening to the Performances
I attended many sessions throughout the three days. I was able to ask questions to three foreign doctors at the poster session and twice at the oral sessions. I had little experience participating in international conferences and had a lot of difficulty discussing in English, but it was a very good experience.

About the interaction with foreign doctors
In the Gala party I had a chance to interact with doctors from Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan. We had a second party with Korean neonatologists at a local Korean restaurant and deepen our friendship.
