FAOPS 2024 Seoul Participation Report

Gaku Morishita

Department of Pediatrics, Kyoto University Hospital

I participated in FAOPS 2024 over three days.
On the first and third days, I listened to presentations by experts from various countries, I was able to learn about the latest findings. On the second night, I attended a social gathering and deepened my friendship with neonatologists and obstetricians from various countries. In addition, we were also able to deepen our exchanges with Japanese neonatologists and obstetricians who were in attendance.
On the second day, I gave a poster presentation on Fractional excretion of natrium (FENa) in preterm infants, and we had a discussion. In this presentation, we examined FENa for each number of weeks of correction and verified whether or not adverse events occur due to excessive sodium administration. The evaluators asked me some questions. The main questions were as follows. (1) Is it important to consider FENa in preterm infants in terms of corrected weeks? (2) Should the effects of antenatal corticosteroids and Cr in preterm infants on FENa be taken into account? (3) In this study, was the dose of Na administered adjusted as a factor? I received various other questions, and I could tell that they were interested in my presentation. I was delighted to receive the Best Poster Award. I was able to win an award at a conference for the first time. We are grateful for your generous support.
