With the support of the Japan Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine, I participated in FAOPS 2025 in Kathmandu. The congress was highly productive and exceptionally well-organized. I delivered two oral presentations: “Effects of antenatal corticosteroid therapy on women with clinical chorioamnionitis at risk of preterm birth; a nationwide cohort study in Japan” and “Evaluation of the applicability of freeze-dried human breast milk in neonatal intensive care units.” During the event, I engaged in discussions with numerous physicians, which broadened my perspectives and deepened my knowledge. This experience underscored the importance of collaboration with obstetricians and gynecologists (OBGYNs) to improve neonatal prognosis. The presentations and lectures demonstrated that Japan's advanced perinatal medicine contributes to superior neonatal outcomes, which serves as a source of national pride. I am committed to dedicating my career as a neonatologist to advancing perinatal medicine in Japan in partnership with OBGYNs, with the goal of contributing to global progress in perinatal care. Furthermore, I established connections with several researchers interested in my work and developed plans for future collaboration at FAOPS 2025. Through these collaborations, I aim to advance my research and disseminate its outcomes internationally. Participation in FAOPS 2025 provided an opportunity to reflect on the current state of Japanese perinatal medicine and clarify my professional goals as a neonatologist. I strongly encourage young neonatologists and OBGYNs to participate in FAOPS.
