Takeshi Fujimoto
Together with Australia’s warm climate and fine weather, the meeting had a very welcoming atmosphere.
On the first day, I attended a plenary session and learned about the history of FAOPS and how Dr. Ogawa, Dr. Nishida, and Dr. Kusuda contributed. This was not something I recall hearing at academic meetings in Japan.
Considering that Australia was the host country, I was still impressed by the large number of presentations from Australia, which reflected the country’s strong research culture. I was also interested in research that was unique to the country with such a vast land area, such as a study on deliveries in emergency departments. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to learn about the current state of healthcare in South Asia and Southeast Asia. This also made me reflect on Japan’s position within Asia.
In the evening, I attended the ECR event organized by PSANZ, which gave me opportunities to connect with early-career researchers, senior leaders, and industry representatives. I felt that this kind of event is less common in Japan, but I found it both enjoyable and beneficial.
Perhaps because of the geographical and cultural closeness within the Asia–Oceania region, I found it easy to communicate with others, as they tried to understand my English. This experience made me want to participate again.
I am sincerely grateful for this valuable opportunity. Thank you very much.
