Mio Kamiya
I would like to sincerely thank the Japan Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine for this generous research grant.
My first international conference presentation was a one-minute poster presentation in the United States. In contrast, this time I was given the opportunity to deliver a ten-minute oral presentation. When my abstract was accepted, I felt both excited and extremely anxious, and I began intensive preparation about one month in advance, practicing my presentation repeatedly every day.
Time passed quickly, and before I knew it, I had arrived in Perth. I attended the opening ceremony, where I had the opportunity to experience traditional Australian performances in person, which left a strong and lasting impression on me. During my session, I was able to present in a warm and supportive atmosphere, with many Japanese colleagues in attendance, including the session chair, Dr. Kusuda.
In my presentation, I reported the results of an external validation study of the iPREFACE score, which evaluates the cumulative fetal stress during labor and predicts fetal acidemia. I felt that this was the smoothest and most confident presentation I have ever delivered. I am deeply grateful to my mentors and professor for their continuous guidance and support.
Finally, I would like to once again express my sincere appreciation for this research grant. It has greatly motivated me to further pursue my research in the future.
