It was a great honor to participate in and present my poster at FAOPS 2026 in Perth, Australia. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Japan Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine for this valuable opportunity. My presentation was titled "Relationship between Fetal Tachycardia and Fetal Inflammatory Response Syndrome (FIRS) in Premature Rupture of Membranes". We retrospectively analyzed 202 cases and found that fetal tachycardia—defined as a baseline heart rate > 160 bpm or a rise of >10%—was independently associated with histologic funisitis with an adjusted odds ratio of 6.2. These results suggest that monitoring heart rate changes is useful for the early detection of fetal inflammation. Through other sessions, I learned about the unique medical environment in Australia. Because of the vast distances between cities, emergency transport is a major challenge, which is very different from the situation in Japan. I also noticed differences in diagnostic approaches. For example, for postpartum hemorrhage, clinicians in Australia rarely use CT and instead rely on ultrasound for evaluation. In Japan, CT is more commonly used in such cases. This international exchange gave me a new perspective on perinatal care. I hope to apply these insights to my clinical practice in Kyoto and continue to contribute to our regional medical community. Thank you very much for your support.
