I was honored to participate in the Federation of Asia and Oceania Perinatal Societies (FAOPS) 2026 Congress, held concurrently with the PSANZ meeting in Perth, Australia, in late March 2026. I am sincerely grateful for the travel grant provided by the Japanese Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine. As a pediatrician aspiring to specialize in neonatal intensive care, attending this meeting, my first international medical conference, was an important step in my career.
Presenting our clinical research on an international stage was a valuable learning opportunity. Engaging in a Q&A session in English for the very first time was challenging yet highly stimulating for my future practice. Exchanging clinical perspectives directly with dedicated professionals from across the Asia-Oceania region broadened my academic horizons. It strongly motivated me to further improve my English communication skills and continue actively participating in international conferences.
This experience would not have been possible without the generous support and guidance of many senior doctors in Japan. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my co-presenter, Dr. Araki, for his close cooperation during the preparation process. I also extend my gratitude to Dr. Isayama for his valuable academic advice and encouragement during the conference.
Moving forward, I will strive to utilize the inspiration and clinical insights gained in Perth to further contribute to perinatal and neonatal medicine.
